When a local cooperative needed a $280,0000 loan to acquire and rehab an eight-family apartment building located at 2336 N. 1st St. in Milwaukee’s Riverwest neighborhood, LCS stepped in to help. As a result, the decaying living space was revitalized to create eight affordable housing units and one market rate unit for families. With little access to traditional capitol, the cooperative pools the money of community members giving people the opportunity to become a strong, united force and bring positive change to their neighborhood.
